How RankBid works
RankBid is Canada's pay-to-rank leaderboard. Any business can be listed on it for $10 CAD. Every dollar paid is added to that listing's all-time total, and listings are ranked by total, highest first. To take a spot, pay more than whoever holds it. Payments never expire and are never refunded. No accounts, no ads, no subscriptions.
That's the whole product. The rest of this page is the detail, the prices and the questions people ask right before they pay.
Four steps from URL to #N
1. Enter your website and an amount
Type your URL. We tidy it as you type (no www, no trailing slash, no tracking junk) and check whether the site is already on the board. If it is, you're topping it up rather than listing it twice. Then pick an amount. The minimum is $10 CAD, and the hint under the box tells you exactly which spot that buys on the board you're looking at. You can aim at Canada, your province, your city, or a category in your city. Your payment counts on all of them at once; the selector only changes which one the hint talks about.
2. Fill in the details
Business name, a tagline of up to 90 characters, a description of up to 600, a logo, a category, your province and city, and a contact email. We prefill what we can from your site, including a suggested category, and you fix whatever we got wrong. Then you tick one box confirming the business is Canadian and that you have read the rules. Two minutes if you type slowly.
3. Pay with Stripe
Checkout is handled by Stripe, in Canadian dollars, for exactly the amount quoted. We never see your card. Spots can change while you check out, since someone else might pay in the same minute, but your payment always counts toward your total in full. The charge is for dollars on your listing, not for a spot, so there's no version of this where you pay and get nothing.
4. You're live
The moment Stripe confirms the payment, your listing is on the board, usually in under three seconds. The success page shows your rank and share buttons, and an email with your private manage link follows. If someone later pays more than you, you get an outbid email with a one-click link showing the exact amount it takes to reclaim your spot. Pay again, or don't. Your total never expires either way.
What you are paying for
You're paying for visibility and traffic on rankbid.ca, not backlinks. Your listing appears on
Canada's national board and on every province, city and category board it belongs to, in the
order your total earns. Links to your site go through a tracked redirect and carry
rel="sponsored nofollow", because they are paid placements.
Here is what that means in practice. Google treats a paid link marked
rel="sponsored" as advertising, which is what it is. The link won't pass ranking
authority to your site, and it won't get you or us in trouble under Google's link spam policies.
If you want backlinks, write something people want to link to.
What you get instead is a spot on the pages people look at when they search for the top companies
in Canada or the best web designers in Kelowna, plus a listing page of your own with a logo,
description and your ranks on every board. Every click on your site goes through
/go/ and is counted, and you can see all-time and 30-day clicks on your listing page
and on your manage page. $10 buys a way to get your business noticed in
Canada by people already looking for one like yours.
What it costs
Listing costs a minimum of $10 CAD, one time, and the listing never expires. To take #1 on any board you pay at least $5 more than the current #1 total. To take any other spot you pay at least $1 more than the holder. Top-ups start at $5. Whole dollars only, maximum $50,000 per payment.
The calculator shows the exact figure before you pay, so you never have to do this math yourself. Four worked examples anyway, because people like to see it. The totals here are made up; the real ones are on the board.
Just get on the board
You run a landscaping company in Saskatoon. You pay $10. You're now on Canada's board, the Saskatchewan board, the Saskatoon board and the home services in Saskatoon board, ranked by your $10 against everyone else's totals. On any of those boards where nobody else has paid, that $10 makes you #1.
#1 in your city
The top listing on the web design in Lethbridge board has $35. Taking #1 there costs $40, which is their $35 plus the $5 increment for a top spot. That same $40 also counts on the Alberta board and the national board, where it might land you somewhere around #60. Small boards are where $40 goes furthest.
#1 in Canada
The top listing on the national board has $1,840. Taking #1 in Canada costs $1,845 as a new listing. If you're already listed with $500, you pay the difference, $1,345, because a top-up only charges the gap between your current total and the total you want.
Any other spot
#4 in Canada holds $600. Taking #4 costs $601. Yes, $1. The $5 increment only applies to #1. Whether that dollar is worth it depends on how much you enjoy watching a competitor's inbox.
Questions people ask before paying
Do I need an account?
No. You enter a URL, pay through Stripe and get a private manage link by email. That link is how you edit your listing later. There is nothing to sign up for and no password to lose. Keep the email, though, it is the only copy.
What if someone pays more than me?
They take the spot and you move down one. Your money stays in your total and your listing stays live. If you were in the top 50 of the national board or your city board, you get an email with the exact amount it takes to reclaim the spot. Pay again or let it go. Either way you never lose what you paid.
Can I pay to promote a business I do not own?
Yes. Anyone can list or top up any business on the board. You will not be able to edit its details unless your email is on the business's own domain, which stops a stranger from rewriting a company's description for $10. Your favourite coffee shop will never know it was you.
Does my listing ever expire?
No. Totals are all-time and boards never reset. A $10 listing from launch day still holds $10 in five years, and still ranks above every unclaimed listing on its boards. The only way to move down is for someone else to pay more.
Is this a backlink?
Not one that counts for SEO. Links to your site go through a tracked redirect and carry rel="sponsored nofollow" because you paid for them. You are buying a spot on a page people search for, plus counted clicks, not link authority. We say this plainly because Google's rules require it and because we would rather you know what $10 buys before you spend it.
What if I pick the wrong category or city?
Open your manage link and change them. Category, city, logo and contact email changes apply immediately for everyone. Name, tagline and description changes also apply immediately if you are the verified owner, and otherwise wait for a quick admin check. The URL cannot be changed. If your business moves domains, list the new one.
